Naltar Valley | A valley of Glacier, Skiing and Lakes
One of the great valleys is Naltar valley near Gilgit, Hunza and Nomal, Gilgit Baltistan. It is 40 km from Gilgit and one can reach there by Jeeps or 4×4 SUVs. Just a two hour drive. Naltar is a woodland (pine) village identified for its wildlife and splendid mountain scenery.
It is lush green valley with astonishing fields and alpine trees. The ratio of rain as compared to other areas of Hunza is more in forested and plain field areas of Naltar Valley. Its alpine scenery is very captivating in the unfertile Karakoram.
Now the communication is accessible by the determinations of Pakistan army signal corps (SCO special communication organization). There are ski lifts under the ‘Ski Federation of Pakistan’. Conveyance is offered from Gilgit to Naltar but through a particular time afterwards one has to travel on his own arrangement.
Naltar valley is like a bliss for ski lovers and tourists, Pakistan Air Force constructed a Skiing resort at elevation of 10,000 feet.

Ski competitions are held at Naltar under the administration of PAF. Naltar Bala and Naltar Pine are two villages of Naltar valley. N.Pine is at a distance of 34 kilometers and Naltar Bala at 40 kilometers from Gilgit. An identifiable spot is Nomal village concerning Naltar and Gilgit. A road from Nomal drives to ‘The Silk Route’ to China.
Each year the peak above the upper valley attracts many climbers. A mixture of hazardous rocks and snow climb is a Shani Peak.

Tourists enjoy trekking from the meadows to the valley, and the most renowned trek is Pakora Pass trek from Naltar to Pakora.
The road from Gilgit to Naltar Pine is metaled and is non-metaled from Naltar Pine to Naltar Bala.
A group of three lakes in the Naltar Vally are famous as “Bashkiri Lakes” 13km distant from Naltar Bala. The road from Naltar Village to Lakes is non-metaled and is a very curvy and thin alongside the mountains. Due to heavy snow fall in the winter, it is impossible to reach the lakes through any vehicle, as snow fall is around 10-15 feet.
Nalltar Valley is one of the best valleys that everybody must visit and relish the high hiking and see the gorgeous sceneries of the valley.
